About Control X4
4 - Sense Port
The Sense Port is a new concept in aquarium parameter measurement. HYDROS devices include several Sense Ports. A Sense Port is a generic input port that can accept data from numerous different types of sensors. Sense Ports currently support:- Temperature probes
- Optical level sensors (single and dual)
- Capacitive non-contact liquid level sensors
- Rope leak detectors
- Point leak detectors
- Flow rate sensors
- Magnetic switches
- Push-button switches
2 - Drive Port
The Drive Ports provide switched 12V DC power for running small lights, motors, pumps, fans, and other accessories. The exact current being supplied by each port is continuously monitored by the Control, so if a motor or pump quits drawing current or draws too much, you will be immediately notified. Accessories currently supported include:- Auto Top-Off (ATO) pumps
- Cooling fans
- Cabinet LED lights
- Solenoids to control reverse osmosis systems
2 - Probe Port
One of the most remarkable ports on the HYDROS Control X4 is the Probe Port. You can connect an ORP or a pH probe to the Probe Port but, this is no ordinary pH input! The circuitry is based on an ultra-high-quality input chip specifically designed for these types of probes. Each pH input provides digital galvanic isolation from the rest of the system. Galvanic isolation prevents interference with other accessories connected to the system like motors and pumps. Digital Galvanic isolation preserves the accuracy of the measurement by converting the signal to a digital domain before crossing the isolation threshold.0-10V Port
The HYDROS Control X4 has 0-10V I/O (input and output) ports that allow it to control and receive commands from other HYDROS devices and accessories from other brands. A legacy automation system can provide input via the 0-10V Ports. They can control variable speed pumps and can also be used to monitor simple switch closures, like push buttons or float switches.2 - Command Bus

The HYDROS Control XP8 is an eight 120V AC outlet energy bar and can control eight HYDROS WiFi devices with individual power monitory capabilities. Each of the individually controlled outlets is built into the HYDROS controller for the highest level of security. The two HYDROS Command Bus ports allow for a wired connection to any other HYDROS controllers to form a collective of all Controls in one. The HYDROS Leak Detection Sensor is a solid surface leak detector that can sense when freshwater or saltwater is underneath it and use that information to protect your aquarium, home, or office from total disaster.
The way it works is simple: plug the sensor into any Sense Port on a HYDROS OS device (like the Control 2 or Control 4). It does not require any additional power source. Next, place the leak detector in a place that makes sense: next to your sump, under your stand, on the lid of a protein skimmer, under your RO/DI system or saltwater mixing station, next to a freshwater ATO reservoir, underneath your carpet, or wherever else there is a potential for leaks. Finally, configure the HYDROS app to perform whatever action(s) you want to happen when a leak is detected: flash a specific light color on your HYDROS controller, turn off a pump, shut down your protein skimmer, send you a mobile alert so you can come home or ask a friend to check on the tank. It’s easy to do and you’re in control.
One common complaint about aquarium leak detectors currently on the market is that they rust on the bottom. Not the HYDROS Leak Detection Sensor. The HYDROS Triple Optical Water Level Sensor can be used for a variety of aquarium applications, such as sensing when your tank needs to be topped off or detecting when a dosing container needs a refill. It plugs into any Sense Port on a HYDROS device (like the Control XS, X2, X4, X10, etc.) and does not require any additional power source. The HYDROS Water Level Sensor contains no moving parts that can fail. The optical eye is magnetically coupled with the magnet side measuring only ¼” thick. It can be mounted to most clear, tinted, or painted surfaces up to ½” thick. The sensor operates in the daytime or complete darkness so it’s safe for use hidden inside your aquarium stand or in the back chambers of an all-in-one aquarium. The sensors are easy to place, easy to move, and easy to clean.
